PAC anxiety and Celexa

Hello all. My PACs have started to come back with a vengeance. It has to die with all this incredible stress and anxiety I have had in my life lately.

I was going to start on Celexa. Has anyone used Celexa or any other type of anti depressant and how did it work?

Thank you so much for the help

Celexa is one of the SSRIs, of which there are quite a few, and they all have slightly different effects for different people.

My shrink has tried me on five SSRIs for panic plus PVCs.  Celexa was one of them, and it worked quite well for me; that is, it is an SSRI that I found very calming.  Boy, did I sleep well on that one!

I'd recommend trying Celexa (there is a newer version called Zoloft).  Bear in mind that with SSRIs, you need a *full* 2 weeks to get an idea of what the effect is going to be, and you won't the complete effect for about six weeks.

Patience is necessary, and sometimes you will have to ask your doctor for a short-acting tranquilizing med like Lorazepam to help you over the hump.  Stay in close contact with your doctor during the six-week breaking period, and if you have trouble with jitters or whatever, do not hesitate to phone and report or ask for more help.

Thank you so much for the response. Did you have any initial side effects when u started Celexa?  also did it help with you PVCs?
At first, Celexa made me sleepy and relaxed.  Believe me, this was a Good Thing!  At last, I could sleep well!

I cannot say that the drug itself decreased my PVCs--however, it DID decrease my awareness of them.

Since their frequency was related to my anxiety and awareness of them (because of the effects of adrenaline), as I became less and less conscious of these sensations, the frequency of PVCs decreased dramatically.

Trust your doctor and give this a try.

You could get your ordinary life--and your pleasure in it--back.
