PVC sufferers: Is the flu hard on your heart?

In light of the current H1N1 epidemic, and because I'm in my sixties, I'm wondering how hard flu is on the heart. I've just recently been diagnosed with PVCs and have about 8000 a day. Since I'll be unable to get that flu vaccine , I'm concerned that the H1N1 flu might really put a strain on my heart and lungs if I'd catch it from my grandkids. What do you think? (Also, I'm allergic to antibiotics (most all of them close my throat), so I'm really concerned about this kind of flu.

My best friend's daughter lost her 27 month old baby girl to swine flu last week. She had the flu for only two days, and then died from a blood clot in the lung while being hospitalized with pneumonia.  This is scary stuff. I got the regular flu shot, but my doctor feels that I should only get that one. This is one scary flu.

My daughter, 7 had confirmed h1n1 and it was very mild for her.  She slept in our bed for 4 nights hacking all over us and we never got it.

I'm hearing most folks over 35 aren't getting it, as we've probably been exposed years ago.

hi. Yes, fever can increase heart rate, if that's what you mean

if it were me, I'd stay away from kids :)

and you're right, secondary bacterial lung infection would be a big worry with your sensitivity to antibiotics

Very sorry to read about your loss and that explains you heightened concern.

Still, I think you are doing your heart more damage, or at least stress, with worrying about what the H1N1 might do to your heart.  I haven't heard any reports of concern about people with heart problems.  Further, I read the H1N1 will be mild in most cases, even if one gets it is isn't likely too difficult to deal with.

Yet, any illness puts stress on all parts of the body, including the heart, so if you get sick, best advice is get lots of rest, drink lots of water... you know the program, and see a doctor if the symptoms are severe.
