I have had PVCs since about 25 - I'm 50 now and have just received the results of an echo that show mild mitral and tricuspid regurgitation.  I've done the whole workup of stress test, echo, holter, etc. and was told that everything looked okay and that what I suffered from were benign PVCs.  I don't like them, they scare me to death, but I've learned to live with them.  After finding out that I had valve regurgitation on my current echo, now I'm wondering if my PVCs could be related to that.  Does anyone know if there is any relation of the two?  Could the regurgitation cause any sort of irregular rhythm that might cause sudden death?

I'm sorry the question sounds so dramatic, but just when I was resigning myself to deal with the PVCs, I've just given myself another reason to worry.  Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

hi there
i have .mitral valve regurgitation and have had ectopics for twenty or more years.yes it can be related to leaky valve as i have researched it like mad and asked my cardiologist if this was correct.they dont want to repair valve unless necessary as major suegery.i have tried ablation but they couldnt induce ectopics so the nightmare continues as they are exhausting.i really feel for you as there is no anwser.have you seen an ep yet so they can see if you have a focal point or not.you take care

I think you may be worrying needlessly.  Your test outcomes sound perfect to me.  You have benign pvcs and that is annoying, but your heart is healthy.  I think most people have some mild regurgitation.  I have seen my own echo results, and have seen the same thing, and was told by 3 different cardiologists that there was nothing to worry about.  Worrying can of course cause adrenaline which can cause more pvcs.  In fact adrenaline is what they used during my recent ablation for pvcs to induce the pvcs!  I had 17K pvcs per day and have had these damn things for 15 or more years.  I am happy to finally be pvc free.  Please write again.  Debbie

Sorry to read your mind is loaded with such serious thoughts - I hope that Christmas will give you some time to move your thoughts to happier things.

Heart valve regurgitation (leakage) is very common in healthy hearts/people and I suspect if measured closely enough most valves leak a little.

I do not associate this condition in any way with sudden heart failure or even directly with PVC.

I am a couple of decades older than you and I suffer from atrial fibrillation which may have been aggravated by mitral valve leakage.  I had that valve repaired at age 67.

I read you are receiving expert medical attention, please discuss your concerns with your doctors and please take this input as one of belief that you will see many more Christmas seasons, Merry Christmas.
