PVCs or irregular heart from Amitriptyline/ Elavil?

I was having PVCs pretty badly, then they seemed to subside.  It was like this for a long while, then my doctor put me on Amitriptyline for something unrelated.  Within a day the PVCs came back, so i can only imagine there may be a relation.  Granted, I was only on 10mg, but still.  I stopped it right away, but after a day I still have them pretty bad.  Has anyone else had a similar experience?  Mind you, they never went away entirely, but they were much better than before the medication.

I recently read that Amitriptyline is one of the many drugs that can make PVCs worse.  It is one that acts as a stimulant on the heart, as does alcohol and caffeine.  I have had PVCs for 40 years and have been on different beta blockers for them. But most drugs did not help much and caused depression.  Recently I read a study about Acebutolol, an older heart drug, that helped reduce PVCs by up to 70% in participants in the study.  I asked my cardiologist about it and he said it was worth a try. They always tell you the irregular beats are benign, but they don't experience the discomfort that they bring on.  Anyhow, I am on 400mg twice a day of Acebutolol, and this past year I have had virtually no PVCs.  It honestly was like a miracle. I used to get 10,000 to 15,000 PVCs a day, and anxiety also contributed to them.  So I can't say if this drug will work the same for everyone, but it's worth a try if the doc says it's okay. I wish you the best. God bless.

Thanks for the answer.  Well, the PVCs have not gone away, so I don't know what.  Anyway, no more Amitriptyline for me!  I actually haven't had it since right before I posted!
