PVI Ablation

Just wanted to post something positive - I had PVI ablation on January 11th.  As of today, I have had 11 full days of normal sinus rhythm.  I have had paroxymal atrial fibrillation for the last 10 years.  I have been very chicken to do the ablation and have tried every possible antiarrhythmic drug on the market.  When I was first home from the ablation I was introduced to this site and it scared me to death.. listening to the stuggles that everyone has gone through - multiple ablations, etc...  So, anyway, just wanted to tell you that I'm doing GREAT so far.  I am being cautiously optimistic about the long term outcome, but I'm enjoying each moment immensely!  I still have a little pain in one groin and I am still tender where the central line in my chest was, but other than that... I'm doing great.  YEAH!!  I also want to acknowledge this site for being so validating for me.  I've always felt like people (physicians included) thought I was crazy for being so "in tune" with every beat of my heart - and now I know there are others who have the same sensations and validated that it truly disrupts your life in a way no one else can understand.  THANKS!

Thank you.  Thank you.  Thank you.... for all the positive comments.  I know that only others with rhythm issues can understand how wonderful it feels to go several hours, much less several days and now even a week without that nuisance.  I even have people telling me that I look healthier than I have for a long time.  I am actually just focusing on my life and not what the heck my heart is doing.

I have been on coumadin for nearly 5 years now... and haven't had any major side effects, but I hate being on it - you know, its original purpose was rat poison.  Now I'm on day 12!  Again, thank you guys so much for the support!!!

Good to hear you're doing so well.  I think there are a lot of us who have had positive outcomes, including me back in September.  I had spent 30 years with SVT episodes and had never heard of "ablation" until last year.  Thank God for all of us out there that such a procedure exists.  The waiting was the worst part.  The procedure, for me, was a breeze.  Take care.  Pam

I'm glad to hear you're doing so well!  I just had my PVI done yesterday, and so far I feel ok.  I have gotten some chest pain and I feel a little dizzy.  How was the coumadin/warfarin for you?  Have you had any side effects?

Congratulations on your 11 days of sinus rhythm!  Here's to many years to come of a-fib free life!
