Post Ablation Expectations/Feelings

So I had my ablation at Univ. of Penn last week. They waited for an hour after my procedure and didn't see any pvcs so they were pretty sure the issue was fixed.  I started noticing the pvcs again the next morning.  The pain I had with the pvcs immediately after the procedure is gone which is a relief.  Today they are coming more and more frequently.  I feel so down in the dumps.  Before I left the hospital the doctors told me to give it a month to see if they calm down.

Maybe I expected too much but I feel really discouraged.  I thought that it would be so great to be normal again but I only had a short period of time for normalcy.  Am I expecting too much?  My pics have increased over time, I think at last count I was 14%.  How much is too much and how long can my heart sustain so many pvcs?

It will take several weeks for the lesions that your EP created to stop PVCs to heal so give it more time.  A successful procedure from what I read is a 95% reduction in PVC burden.  If you were at 14% burden pre-ablation, that equals 0.7% post-ablation or around 700 PVCs per day.  UPenn is supposed to be excellent if not tops in the nation at this type of procedure.  Many other hospitals with top VT-ablation programs have UPenn trained specialists.  Best wishes to you for an uneventful recovery process.

Thanks much.  Today is a better day.  I still have them but yesterday was good and today is even better.
