During my last pregnancy, my doctor heard a heart murmur during a regular checkup. The echocardiogram said the following: left ventricular systolic function is normal with an EF of 55-60%. Left Ventricle size is normal. Left Atrium is normal in size and function. The mitral valve is normal. Mild Mitral regurgitation is present. The aortic valve is trileaflet and appears structurally normal. Mild tricuspid regurgitation is present. My doctor said it was fine and just related to extra blood flow during pregnancy.
Unfortunately, that pregnancy ended in miscarriage 2.5 months ago. I was seen last month by a doctor who did not hear a murmur at all. I am now pregnant again and could hear the murmur myself with a stethoscope. Does any of this sound like something I should be concerned with, or is it a normal side effect of pregnancy? Thanks in advance for the help!
