Prolonged qt interval and pvc

I recently went for a routine medical exam and the ekg read that the qt intervals were long and that it was showing PVC. I often feel my heart race and flutter when I'm idle and or laying down, never thought twice about it. During my follow up the PCP asked if there was sudden death in my family from cardiac issues and or heart disease in the family beyond my parents. I recently writhing three months had a 22 year old cousin die from a sudden cardiac arrest in his sleep and a extended family history of heart diease and when I told him he raised an eye brow and refered me to a cardiologist. Based on the few others in the medical field (not doctors) I asked about in regards to the ekg they didn't think it was an issue. I'm hesitant to go and waste time and money with the likelyhood they will tell me everything is fine and send me on my way. In anyone's experience with this type of thing give some feedback?

Yes, a prolonged QT-Interval could be an inherited condition and can lead to Arrhythmia. On the other hand, I had PVC's for many years and only now (I am 80 years old) do they occur at such short intervals that I personally (not a doctor) classified them as Arrhythmia and I have made an appointment with a cardiologist. But in your case he would have seen it on the ECG and told you.
