Starting Atenolol Was Previously On Torpol XL Question?

or about 3 weeks ive been on toprol xl 50mg cause of extra heart beats..it didnt really help so my dr is starting me on atenolol 100mg im suppose to take 1 and half the first few days then go for the 2nd pill. im starting this on sunday my question is do i just stop the toprol and start on this like take the toprol up until sat then sun i wake up and take the atenolol or do i have to be weened of the toprol first then take the atenolol im asking here cause i forgot to ask my dr when i saw him and its on my mind im going to talk to him this weekend but would like to here others thoughts cause its on my mind  im not going to do just what you say just getting opinions i am still going to talk to my dr before hand im a 21 5'5 144 lbs male no other conditions except for this

It is fine to stop toprol one day and start atenolol the next day.  they are the same class of medication.  If you have no problems with Toprol, I suspect the same is true with the atenolol.

I take atenolol 100mg daily in divided doses , basically 25mg 4 times daily works much better that way, I rarely have PVCs anymore. I would imagine though I'm not a doctor, that the next day after you take the last dose of toprol you can take the atenolol, I was switched from propranolol to atenolol within a day. Double check with your doc first , though the Doc here on the forum will probably give you the best advice as what to do, good luck.
