I am nearly 20 years old and have been suffering chest / facial pain for 2 and a half years. Catagorised by abnormal pulsating sensations, Sometimes conforming to heart rate, and other times, conforming to a faster rythm, such as mustle spasms.
I was origionally given an ECG and a 24 hour tape to rule out any possible effects of the heart, as I have a heart murmor. I also had an xray and I was asposed to have a ultrasound, but missed the appointment. My doctor said not to worry, as the ECG came back normal.
Results of ECG and 24 hour tape came back fine, appart from an abnormal unpredictable resting heartrate, ranging from 70-140 and constantly changing. (70 1 second, 120 the next) as well as a high brod pressure on several of the readings.
Yesterday, after stupidly taking stimulants, I got tight chest pain and called an ambulance. When the ambulance arrived, they noted a number of unusual readings from an ECG and though I was having a heart attack. I was given asprin and rushed to hospitals resus. ward where blod samples where taken and I was given morphine. By that point the ECG calmed down, and I was back to normal rythm.
I remember them saying, I had abnormal t wave inversions, and somthing about my q wave. Sorry I can't be more specific. Blod test reported I had high levels of a heart enzyme, they never specified wich, but said that it could even be caused from brusing. Urin analysis reported moderate amounts of blod, nitrates, and celulites. Which cleared later in the day.
They released me from hospital a few hours later.
I just want to know if it is worth chasing up with my doctor, or if it was simply from the drugs. Discussing the events with my doctor is a little embarising, and unless I feel that I could be in any real danger, I would rather avoid such discussion but I can't help feeling that the drug use was simply a catalist, as the effects that drew me to calling the ambulance, where simply an enhancement of the anxiety / pain symptoms I naturally feel. So I can't help feeling that the natural symptoms could be related to my heart, or that if they whern't, then I still can't help wonder if I done any real damage to my heart during the abnormal rythm episode.
As the ambulance crew origionally weren't to optimistic that I wasn't experiancing a heart attack. Surely if it wasn't a heart attack, but a similar experiance, it could have done some damage. The ECG results the ambulance crew recorded missed the peak of the episode, whereby the readings on the monitor compleatly screwed up ( i don't have a clue however what the readings mean / represent ). So what the hospital went by was seriously inadequate. The readings also "skipped" beats, but again, that wasn't demonstrated on the ECG.
