Using Both Mexiletine and Sotalol for PVCs

Hi, I am having a miserable time with PVCs, lots and lots of them, trouble breathing and sleeping. 65 year old male, past heart attack, ICD, typical BP meds. Had all the tests, including aborted abulation. Discovered a clot on ICD lead and procedure was stopped. Now on warfarin and mexiletine. Mexiletine, 200mg, 3x daily, sometimes just does not work, usually in the evening. Just like I never took the pill.  Have read about others using both mexiletime and Sotalol. Is this typically done?? My doctor wants to just switch me to sotolol, stopping mexiletine. Not sure if that will be best approach. Any additional information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Gary K.

I'm sorry I don't have any specific experience with the med switch.

Do you know where the PVCs are originating from?  are they unifocal?

If you know these two answers I was thinking that another option would be to take care of the issue that stopped your first ablation and try that again too.  Kind of a "throw everything but the kitchen sink at it" approach.
