Woke up with heart rate 178, benign?

Since November 2016

Echcardiogram / Doppler (November 2016 / July 2017) - Normal

Stress Test - July 2017 - Normal

X Ray - July 2016 & December 2016 - Normal

November & December 2016 - 2 seperate event monitors for over 30 days total - PVCs thus far deemed benign

Blood Work July 2016 / December 2016 -  Normal

Countless EKGs - Normal

No heart issues found, mildly dilated LA/LV (after weight loss has reduced on second echo) Only PVCs/PACs found, dermed benign. However last night woke up soon after falling asleep raving, it was 178 and after going to pee and sitting in bed it went from 178 to 84 in the blink of an eye, was not long lasting but very scary and was kinda short of breath and panicking. Is this truly benign? No pain, never passed out, dont event think i was having pvcs, 26 year old white male 5"11 265lbs.

I also occasionally have muscle twitches, and something waking up with kind of like an internal shaking/vibrating that lasts a few seconds and feels intense. Not often or daily, and most annoyingly and bothersom is when i lay my head on a pillow or on my fiance when cuddling, I can hear/feel my heartbeat, my head at times jumps/moves/thuds to my heart rhythm, if on my back i can see my tablet bouncing accordingly as well. It feels like my whole body just jumps to it and doesnt feel normal. Any input?

I have the same issue as you and I have been told if all test are normal then its benign. Scary I know but they say issues of the heart are only life threatning if you have underlying heart disease. I have been dealing with this for several years now and all the docs want to do is say its anxiety.

So we haven't pinpointed what you experienced, but can only go on what you told us.  If it was SVT, having even one event indicates that you are probably prone to future episodes.  As you age, odds favor increasing number of episodes.  As an example, as a kid I experienced perhaps 4 or 5 episodes per year.  At age 60, I was having 4 or 5 per month.  Keep an eye on it.

Just an update, it has NOT happened again just the one time. And overall have more or less been PVC free

The hallmark of SVT is that it starts and stops on a dime.  When you're in normal rhythm, EKG can look perfectly normal.

5'11" @ 265 would make you a large man.  Have you investigated the possibility that you have Obstructive Sleep Apnea?  OSA can aggravate those who have arrhythmia issues.

If you get this frequently, a 30 day monitor would help pin point the issue

Hello,

Thanks for the response. I was tested for Apnea and was negative. And this was a one time occurrence to my knowledge. I am looking to lose weight, get better nutrition, exercise and more sleep. Hoping this can help the palps/pvcs. The high heart rate has just happened once with no pvcs prior
