anyone interested?

First I will ask my question then give history about my health.  I was wondering if anyone wanted to exchange emails or connect on facebook etc.... for support and answering each others questions from our own personal experiences.  okay with that said.....I am a 29 year old male who develpoed A-fib in july of 2011.  I was a heavy drinker. the doc said i weakeded my heart and brought on A-fib from drinking.  I was doing a follow up at doc office from weekend before.  weekend before i was drinking and had bad chest pains and couldnt hardly breath so i went to ER.  After a bunch of tests they said it was acid reflux.  I never really had heart burn or anything so i still think that was related to my a fib later.  like i was saying a follow up 3 days later i started getting palpitations and heart racing seeing doctor (never had heart race before like this but week leading to this episode i started having pac pvc's)  heart rate went over 250bpm so doc called 911.  They tried everything they could to get rythm back to normal but nothing worked.  so they gave me a cardioversion.  They put me on diltiazem 240mg and i had pac's pvc's and it drove me nuts.  when i got meds refilled my primary doc put me on cartia xt and i no longer have pac or pvc's.  After months of side effects and dosage change i finally feel almost normal.  except my heart rate resting sits between 85-99bpm.  but recently ive been exercising (due to physical therapy for back arthritis) and now my heart rate sits at 67bpm.   i also started taking an antidepressant.  not sure why the big change in heart rate.  i hope its for the better.  Sorry for this coming out such a mess please reply with questions or comments.  i can give more details about any of it just ask.  Greg

I didn't have afib so I can't relate there but I do have pacs/pvcs.  It sounds like you have things under control but I do believe there is a stomach connection to the pacs/pvcs soyour acid reflux could definitely have been making things worse.  If they come back try to make sure you address any stomach ailments and see if that helps as well.  I know womens' hearts tend to beat a little faster then mens' but even if your resting rate goes back to being a little high I wouldn't worry too much.  Mine it there a lot and so long as you don't have any other symptoms is isn't anything to worry about but do keep on top of your afib.  Here to hoping it was an isolated issue with you.  Take care and nice to meet you.

Reads like you are pulling things together, hopefully not drinking heavily an longer.  I have not read before of a link between AFib and drinking, but "binge drinking" can do a lot of damage, and AFib may be one of them for some of us.

The 67 resting HR is a good number.  If you are finding more emotional stability that could be a prime mover toward a good health heart rate like 67.

Good luck, keep up the good work.  You get only one body/heart, it is up to you to take care of them.
