Thank you for your reply. I am having palpitations and ectopic heart beats. Cardiologist has put me on Bisopropol 10 mg daily. The original echo showed an enlarged right heart and tricuspid regurgitation. Also showed raised pulmonary pressure. Had an angiogram. He then said I had ectopic heart beats and put me Bisopropol to slow heart down and relieve palpitations.

Mich7874 I have the same as you. I've had full cardiac workups and I was told I have mild tricuspid valve regurgitation. My cardiologist says that it is very common and there is no need for concern or follow up. I have a fast heart rate which my dr says is not at all linked to the tricuspid valve situation so wants me to have an ablation done to burn the extra pathway causing my palpitations. Good luck with you and take care!

Hello Mich,
Ectopic heart beats are funny little beats that we all have from time to time. Problems occur when we have many ectopics or when we feel smptomatic from them.

Tricuspid regurgitation has to do with your tricuspid heart valve. The valve is the doorway that opens and closes each time our heart beats and pumps blood forward to the rest of our body. We have for heart valves in different parts of our hearts. The tricuspid valve is one of the valves that gets less wear and tear than some of the other heart valves. Regurgitation means that some of the blood that should be pumped forward, is leaking back through the valve. Mild regurg is something usually just to be watched over time. Your Cardiologist will probably do follow up echocardiograms in the future if you become symptomatic. Regurgitation usually has to progress from mild to moderate to severe, before other treatments than medications are considered (like surgery).

I wouldn't worry about a little mild regurg. Many of us have it and continue on without problems. I'm just wondering, what did your Cardiologist say regarding future visits and what were your symptoms that sent you to your doc in the first place?

Stay in touch.
