I am now confused.
With a heart rate of 240-260 bpm sure sounds like SVT to me. It could have also been that the SVT was causing her shortness of breath, especially since the episode was going on for so long. You also mentioned her left arm and jaw went numb after the digocin, I am not sure what could cause that other than if the episode was lasting so long before being converted, runs an increased risk of a blood clot in the heart. It could also be that the high heart rate could have started to put a strain on her heart.
I have to say after my SVT attacks my heart rate dropped dramatically along with my blood pressure and stayed very low for a week after cardioversion. If the doctor said she had an abnormally low heart rate then it is possible that the digocin could have brought down her HR too much. is it possible that your daughter was having a side effect to the digocin as I found this on the web.
While your child is taking digoxin, the doctor may want you to check your child's pulse (heart rate) daily. If it is much slower or more rapid than usual, notify the doctor. Such changes may mean side effects are starting.
I have no idea wh an autopsy would take so long.
If I were you I would request all her medical papers and go and talk to somoeone who understands it all... maybe a 2nd opinion. I know it wont bring your little girl back but it at least could give you some closure.
I am not an expert so please don't quote me on these things, I say it as I see it.
Take care
I don't know the answer but I wanted to say how sorry I am for the loss of your daughter.
What I would do is ask in the heart disease expert forum here:
http://www.medhelp.org/forums/Heart-Disease/show/114
you may have to keep trying to get your question in because they only allow a certain amount a day, so try at different times of the day. Explain all of this to the dr and hopefully one of them will have an answer for you.
May you find the peace you need to move on without your daughter =) the pain never goes away, but with time it does get better.
Thankyou for your resoponse I cant seem to get any answers. I appreciate that you read my post. Also, she had been misdiagnosed with svt and asthma which she underwent 4 or 5 episodes of a heart rate of 240 to 260 bpm for 5 n 6 hrs at a time then givin digocin which slows your heart rate her left arm went numb and jaw. Finally in oct. of 10/10 Dr. Jonesrude said she had none of those diagnosisis but a abnormally low heart rate. I am so confused. How that could be mistaken. and why a heart autopsy would take 4 mths to complete.
Please accept my condolences for you and your families loss.
What kind of heart problem did your daughter have?
I think it is possible that during a fire certain chemicals can let off toxic fumes and those fumes can be inhaled by anyone in the vicinity of the fire. Even after the fire with thorough cleaning of the premises doesn't always clear away the toxins.
I cannot say though whether or not the chemical fumes attributed to your daughters heart problem.
Again sorry for your loss
Take care
