I totally agree with lindatx, I've had bunches of ekgs, have copies of many of them, but never has a doctor gone over them with me. I do find looking at them fascinating. Mine always read abnormal and some of the stuff the machine spits out as diagnosis can be alarming and inaccurate.

I just have to chime in here too.  In all the yrs I've been having ecg tests done, and with a-fib, that's a lot, I have never had a cardiologist sit down and explain what's what on the test.  I always try to get a copy but nobody seems to want to take the time to do any explaining.  I think it's because the test has to be confirmed by a ?Cardio technician?  Anyway I never get any answers and maybe what Pika does is best.  At least he seems to be getting specific answers to specific questions. :)

Hi Jo,

What kind of palpitations do you have?  Still, many cardiologists could miss the ecg interpreting though.  I always ask them, does my ecg show xxx, or that xxx, or xxx?  Every question that I asked, he looked at the ecg and answered me.  Otherwise, all the time he'll said "normal ecg"!  Bye, send me off the door way......

I were like you.  Wish someone would suggest or spot what they suspected on the ecg.  We all know that this is NO a doctor forum.  At least, I can have something to ask or to raise when I see the cardiologist.  Not many people would offer that in this forum.  I try to match and verify from the ecg library on website.

BBB on the ecg will be like a letter "M" or "W".  I have RBBB before and now LBBB.

thanks for reply, i have posted and paid for it on the expert forum but as yet no reply.. im guessing that either means all is well or that they dont want to give a diagnosis from a posted ecg - which i understand the ethical issues...

After the ecg - my doctor got the receptionist to give me a copy, looked at it for a while, kinda scowled and very slowly and unconvincingly said "it was nothing to worry about" i know i sound like a hypochondriac - for not taking that as it. but she said i should take a copy of the ecg to show to my new doctor (not that i have one yet).

i know from a previous ecg a few years ago that 2 cardiologist said i had an incomplete right bundle branch block, and the last one i saw (after being ambulenced in with breathing difficulties after a knee operation) wasnt happy with my heart and wanted me to do a treadmill test - but i went abroad for a year and so i never got any further tests (as i had to wait gor my knee to heal)

so i just wonder whether my GP - who im sure has a basic knowledge, may miss something a cardiologist may see. she never mentioned any Incomplete RBBB - though maybe its gone now???  
i know this ecg is normal in that i wasnt experiencing any crazy palps or pain at the time, i know i need to try to get some kind of long term halter or other test to catch my heart when it acts like an idiot, but unfortunately over here i cannot see a cardiologist unless my gp refers me and then i maybe waiting many months...

so if rather i pay for a cardiologist here to have a quick glance over t he ecg but so far they're not answering!!! what to do :)

has your doctor not commented on these results, mine wouldnt let me leave until he was sure it was ok, there are cardiologists on the expert bit but we have to pay,we can post to the nurse for free if thats any good to you

Hi jo_lang well that is all good news anyway...i totally understand where you are coming from w. this...in Caifornia we don't have the issues that you must in the UK and i couldn't imagine in my wildest dreams having to wait for test results because there would be no time or space......i felt really weird posting what i did but i tend to be a worry wart and know how serious issues of the heart are.....i would definately sek out a heart doc because they are experts in the field of the heart if possible...i am very unsure of what the medical situation is in other countries being a 7th generation Californian but hopefully the more you pursue it the quicker you will be seen.  Thanks for your understanding Jo i just guess i live in a pink world and want everyone to do whatever possible to ensure their safety when it comes to the heart....good luck Jo........

i know where your coming and i dont in anyway shape or form take anything here as a diagnosis of any sort. but more the question of whether i should pursue this with my GP - who frankly is pretty useless- so i am changing GP's but in the interim, before i get to a new GP (in the UK you sometimes have to wait cos nhs spaces arent available) i wanted to check there wasnt anything deathly wrong that people may suggest i go back and force the issue earlier (in that way it is only being a safety net cos if i dont post here i wont be going back anyway til i get a new gp - as i dont have too much time to find one atm).

anyway - i asked it on the expert forum - though noone has answered yet - so perhaps they too dont want to look at an ecg.. im pretty new here so didnt know what i should and shouldnt post - so apologies :) but i think a cardiologist is better placed to look at my ecg than a GP... just my opinion.

i do agree with you and please dont think i am going to take anything said here with more than a pecautionary pinch of salt, but id rather err on the side of caution if anyone was able to spot any glaring abnormalities so i could go back to my gp sooner and ask her a pointed question.
i was rather hoping there were cardiologists on the expert bit, but who knows...

Hi is_something_wrong......i've got to say i don't agree....mainly because we know nothing about anyones lives and how far they will take what our opinions are and i think it is best to err on the side of caution here......again we go back to a "personal" opinion by members that have absolutely no medical training in which to give that opinion...stress relief is a red flag to me because if that stress relief comes from members opinions of an ECG to another member and that member is wrong and the person seeking advice takes it to heart and ignores what the results actually show it could be deadly to them ....roughly normal in itself could be very bad because what about the areas of the tape that are not normal?  Again i just get a little nervous but hey love your posts is_something_wrong !!!

I completely agree -  but I stated three times in my post that I'm not a doctor and that a doctor should give the diagnosis:)

Otherwise, I don't see a problem letting people have their opinions on an EKG. It's a bit of a stress relief, if someone roughly can see if it looks fairly normal.

I don't want to come off wrong here or ruffle any feathers but i think it is extremely dangerous for anyone to post their ECG's on this site and for members to remember that no one is qualified period on this site to read the test results.  Even with my medical background there is no way i would do that....there are far too many other factors involved here than just the ECG , the pts. hx., the pts. diagnosis given by a doctor, the symtoms the pt. is experiencing, the meds they are on which we all know will effect the tape, there are too many variables here and if a layperson were to read the results incorrectly without being at a minimum an ACLS Instructor which still doesn't cut it it could be very very bad.  I don't want to upset anyone because i love this community but i think that maybe this is taking it a little too far...we censor alot of what we think and post and i just worry that someone would pop in thinking that they know what they are reading and not taking off of the web and giving advice which is a whole nother can of worms and we don;t want to go there........obviously jo_lang if you have a copy of your test so does your doctor so what did your doctor say and what was their opinion of your diagnosis and treatment....i know we all get impatient to get the answers but we are all lay people on this site and have to trust the doctors because if someone gives you the wrong advice or even thoughts of what their opinion is it could literally cost you your life because you would not be in a controlled setting like a hospital if something went sideways on you and we are spread out all over the world here......those are just my thoughts......

Yes,is_something_wrong could be right,i think the best person to read an ecg is a doctor or cardiologist.Btw i was just wondering,when the last time i had an ECG done,i managed to read it..it says Sinus Tachycardia otherwise Normal ECG,so does it means everything is normal ? like those interval,qprs,st etc..i asked the doctor he mentioned its totaly normal,even its printed on the ecg paper,sinus tachycardia otherwise normal ecg..hmm very interesting.

of all the ecg's id looked at id come across wpw.. but yeah i see that the possible "slow" start isnt very much on my ecg.

here is the ekg - i wasnt experiencing any palps at all when this was taken but just wondered if the dhort pr interval meant anything - i also noticed that  the avL lead didnt show any upward (QRS?) wave - is that normal? i posed a question originally with my history on a i think the heart palpitation forum so i'll put this link there too.

1. Expert forum is free I think, but they accept a limited number of questions each day.
2. I think they will look at your EKG.
3. You can possibly post your EKG or your EKG results here too, as some of us here are able to at least give you some thoughts regarding your EKG while you are waiting for the doctor's reply.
