Hmm, not sure I would agree sleeping is the best course of action.  Did a doctor tell you this?  What is your heart rate during an episode?  I would more suggest vasovagal maneuvers before going to sleep.  I went to sleep once with it and woke with it the next morning so it isn't a sure fire way to get it to stop and to be honest it probably isn't good for the heart.  I was a bit naive about my svt at the time and didn't seek medical advice when I should have.  After letting an episode go too long my heart would be weak for a while after.  Anyways, what type of svt do they think you have, how often do you have it and have you been offered an ablation as a cure?

My SVT would awaken me from my sleep. My highest recorded HB was 236. I had an Ablation Feb 17th 2014. I still suffer from Rapid HB from time to time, but nothing compared to that. Just a short time ago my HB was 124. I am a 52 y/o female and aM going through peri menopause. I find that time of the month brings on palps. My first SVT was at the age of 27, but I also noticed a rapid heart beat as a child and young adult. I would go years without an attack, but as I aged it came on stronger and longer until it awaken me from my sleep. Later that day I ended up in hospital because I was so weak I couldn't walk.I was given adenosine to lower my heart rate. In the days to follow I was given an Angiogram to rule out Heart attack or blockages. That test was normal. Then I see an Electrocardiologist and within a month I had my EP Study and Ablation. I still suffer from shortness of breath from time to time and palps.......but no more SVT ATTACKS SO FAR!!!

..... I'll go out on a limb here and say that it's not the sleep process that causes it to convert, but is a function of time.  I'd say that the majority of those that experience SVT will have it self convert after a period of time.  Those like myself however had the self sustaining kind which would run on and required intervention to slow it.

At 240 beats per minute, there's no way I could have fallen asleep.  Sorry but this is a new one for me.

I'm amazed you can fall asleep with SVT!

Anyways, I've been around this board for about 6 years, never heard of it.
