I can't help answer your primary question but I know how hard it is being in Canada and waiting forever - I am going through something right now myself. Unless you go into the ER bleeding to death it takes months to get any answers and the mental toll it takes is crippling - basically you are alone and will not be helped beyond keeping you alive in the near term until you can get in to see the family doctor, then tests will take months to get in. My suggestions it to be very pushy, do not downplay your symtpons, write everything down, do research yourself and demand a large number of relevant tests up front on your initial visit to put your mind at ease or you will be waiting months if not years for any resolution.
