heart problems?

I'm a 20 year old male and I've been having an issue that's been bothering me since I was 16. It doesn't happen all the time but, occasionally my heart beat comes to an immediate drop then I start to feel light headed. I don't dwell on it much, I simply wait around 2 minutes or so until it reaches back to normal heart rate.
Do I have a problem? I don't think much of it, but was hoping someone would know...

thank you

If it was a PVC (which causes a pause in the heart beat) it wouldn't take 2 minutes to recover. I wonder if you're having episodes of bradycardia, a slow heart beat. Have you tried to take your pulse during those 2 minutes? If the rate is under 50 beats a minute, then you may have a problem. Follow up with your doctor; s/he may suggest you wear an event monitor for a month. It's not that bad - just a little box you carry on your belt and push the button to record those times when you feel the funky heart beats.

How often does this happen?  Daily, every few months... what is not often?

If it is very a very rare occurrence it will be more difficult for a doctor to identify the problem, still it sounds like something you should discuss with a doctor.
