heart rhythm

hi can anyone out there help me???? i had a 24 hr heart monitor fitted and the results were as following..... heart rate of 45-98 beats per minute in sinus rhythm, with frequent ventricular ectopics, some in  trigeminy and bigeminy, with occasional periods of nocturnal bradicardia, i do get very dizzy, lightheaded, shaky, weak and the tremers at times, is these normal or not, please help me someone, thanks

Hi babsiey. Your heart rate 45 is tech. bradycardia. Anything below 50. However, athletes or fit people have that as well and its fine. also, I have 1st degree heart block and so my test shows bradycardia and they say its completely fine. Second and third degree is when you have to have a pacemaker, which I doubt you have. 98 beats per minute is normal. They say tachycardia is over 100 during rest. I will say that my test showed sinus bradycardia and tsinus tachycardia which they said is NORMAL--Frequetn ectopcs I beleive can be pacs or pvcs. I know for sure pacs they say are nothing and pvcs are nothing if your heart structure is fine. Trigeminy is every 3rd beat I believe and bigeminy is every 2nd beat is a pvc. Most of us on here get all them. How many pvcs did they record? I am just curious. I have over 4,000 of them in 24 hours and for now am not doing anything about them, but there are options out there. If your dr tells you your heart is fine and they are benign, then this is the tricky part---because they scare us, benign or not.

hi thank you for your comment, it didnt say how many i had, but i am now seeing a cardiologist who has arranged for me to have a heart scan and 48 hr holter monitor fitted (i have them done tomorrow) then im having a nuclear scan doing, im not sure when i am still awaiting the date yet....so do you think the above is all normal then????

Well you are having all the right things done that will most likely show you are just fine. If they find you get dizzy and stuff during each pvc, they will probably mention a medication you can take, which others on here find helpful--(I personally am not a medication person if I can help it---however, I am not above using them ---if that makes sense) which the doctors on here say is to help with the symptoms NOT because pvcs are dangerous. Your test will show if your heart structure is normal and if it is--you are probably all set! :) Dont over read the word probably---I just cant say anything is certain--I am not God lol.

did you get a copy of your test results? if not request it so you can read over and see exactly what the test said and what the dx was if any

45bpm if it was due to the noctural bradycardia I think is ok; I attended a seminar Dr. Park from CC here held because I have it also and found out I have OSA (sleep apnea) and he said bradycardia is considered 40bpm for night vs 60 pbm day; just like tachycardia is 90bpm night vs 100bpm day - you may want to ask your doctor about that information :P  another option to explore - sleep apnea which can cause alot of problems

have you had your blood sugar levels taken and since you have dizziness they may want to look at doing a tilt table test to rule out ANS problems (autonomic nervous system)

depends on how many you had; if your heart is structurally normal and what is considered "frequent" by your dr - some treat with meds if you have 6,000 - 8,000 pvc's and some won't; there's alot of conflicting info on this subject so some doctors vary on treatments

we can only assume by your doctor ordering more tests that he sees something and wants to test further and get to the bottom of your problems; which is alot better than some doctors - they just ignore symptoms :(

hi lisa, no i havent seen any test results, the dr that ordered the 24 hr holter monitor, is a different dr to the one that has ordered these tests, the one that has ordered these tests is a cardiologist while the other one was a neurologist, (i am also under him due to polyneuropathy but it has been ruled out by biopsys ect that my polyneuropathy is affecting my heart thank god) so that rules the autonomic nervous system, the cardiologist is lovley, i think he was concerned when i mentioned the dizzyness ect, i dont think i will find anything out untill ive been for the nuclear test which as of yet i havent recieved an appointment, but will keep you informed of what the say, thanks
