Have you ever been tested for Obstructive Sleep Apnea?  Has you bed partner ever reported that you snore?  A pounding, slightly elevated heart rate is a symptom of OSA.

hello,

pounding heart can just be palpitations. I get those alot, my wife also.
What drives me crazy at times are the skips, flips and vertricular runs.
It also could be anxiety related upon your awakening. I get that too.
For your peace of mind, you may want to see your doctor, and have him listen to your heart. best to you
