introducing myself and ?

Hi all- I have visited this forum a few times and it is such a comfort to know I am not alone. PVC  is sooo scary. I am 37yo  and diagnosed approx. 18mo. ago when started having LOTS of PVCs during short surgical procedure . So for the last 18months I have pretty much had lots of pvcs-bigeminal also I think is correct term I don't know a lot about these really. I have been on 12.5mg metoprolol 2x a day which has helped but I still get them daily. When initially diagnosed I had ekg and echocardiogram, we haven't done MRI or anything because med. seems to help some.  I remember having "palpitations" as early as my early 20s but honestly before 18mo. ago, I don't remember if I noticed them a lot or not. Now I notice them every day of my life! If you have PVCs  would you mind sharing a little info or your story or symptoms with them? Thanks so much. I am so glad to have found this place to not feel so alone with this scary part of life. Jen

Yesterday was a good day for me too, not one palpitation that I felt.
Strange!! I don't know if its the High Pressure pills working or the Omega 3 pills that I started taking.

I have a feeling its being overweight and HBP that is(was) causing my palps.

Lets see how tonight goes.

Thanks for your replies and the warm welcome. It really helps to know that others have these things and they go on living. When I am really worked up and anxious about my pvcs I feel like I have a ticking time bomb in my chest , but I have definately noticed when I don't freak out about them I have less of them. Yesterday was a good day - here's hoping today is too. I am going to cardiologist Nov. 3 as I really want to clarify that heart IS otherwise healthy. My last echo was deemed to "look better" than my first one but I really need to find out what exactly that means. AZQTPIES-I hope you get some good results  on the 23 and I hear you on being tired of being afraid.  SIRENET-I do try and stay as calm and relaxed as possible but sometimes I just can't help myself and the 'what ifs ' creep in. Your positive attitude and advice are right on target. RICKYM-I hope the pills are working for you. I too feel my heart pounding and feel the skipped beats. Some days it is all day long very erratically beating and others days feels almost normal. Thanks for listening. Jen

Welcome, I just joined today too.

For me it started 3 months ago. It was a Saturday when I woke up I had a palpitation that I noticed but made nothing of it. Near bed time I noticed I had another palp. I couldn't get any sleep, thinking my heart would stop at any moment. I started to panic and drove my self to the hospital around 4 am. The ER doctor said I was fine and sent me home with NORVASC.
Went through all the tests, Nuclear, stress test everything came out normal. Just last week I was having a hard time sleeping, I could hear my heart pounding and skipping beats so my doctor put me on High blood pressure pills. Now today I got put on Atenolol by my Cardiologist
from my 48 hours holter results. He says I am having a lot of PVC's. Funny thing I haven't felt a PVC today? Maybe its the Highblood pressure pills working.

Hi Jen, I'm Steve. Warm welcome to you. You will find this site and people herein quite informative.
I also suffer from Pvcs, but I have Dilated Cardiomyopathy, so they occasionally cause me to have runs of VT.
As long  as you have been assured that your heart is otherwise healthy, they will probably be deemed 'benign'. So the most important thing is for you to not allow them to upset you or cause you further stress. Easier said than done, I know. Our minds are a powerful tool. If you can find a way to totally relax, through meditation, breathing techniques, or whatever works for you. Truly try and gain control over your emotions, by not giving into them. For if they are 'benign', than your worrying is causing more harm than they.....
I wish you well in harnessing their effect upon you. ;-)

Hi Jen..
I too  are new to this forum though I found med help coulpe years ago and It has ben wonferful.. I too suffer from palps, pause outs skipped beats and runs of tachracardia..
I got my first one 9 years ago after the birth of my third child but it was after eating a meal.. scared the heck out of me it went away after few minutes and dont recall getting another one for couple years later I got a steriod shot for allergies and it sent me into tachracardia for 4 months I developed such servere anxiety during that experience is when I remember starting t o feel them more frequent after 3 months of the tach I went to a cardio dr and had a ekg and echo all was normal expect beating fast. I too was put on meteroloprol 12.5mg 2x daily for my hr they never took the palps away but worked on not letting my hr get to high which helped my panic attacks..

Here I am 6 years later still getting them, I did develop thyroid nodules 5years they were found and had thyroid surgery 1 1/2 yr ago and now deal with tsh issue which they say could be a big part of the pvc palps... I just had a baby 6 months ago and my palps got really bad during my first trimester which I had horrible heartburn EVERY day they did get better till I delivered then came back bad during my labor pains.

After  the birth they were much better and had hardly few for the past 4 months I almost felt normal again, then the last month half they have returned some days really reallybad, where they feel like every few beats... I had started taking zantac 75 which seems to help as I am absolutely convinced my stomach is a huge trigger.

I just seen my cardio dr yesterday for the  first time in 6 years and  they did a ekg which was normal tomorrow they are doing a 24 holter and next wek a echo then I get all my results on the 23. They are sooo darn scary and I am so tired of being afraid.. I read some of the post here and think OMG some people truly feel exactly the way I do! I could not believe it as these things make you feel so alone! as no one can understand unless they suffer from  these horrible things. I am too happy I have found this forum, it is great to no there is somewhere we can go were others truly understand and can relate!

I hope my story helps.. I am hoping someday these just go away! I crave for the day of being normal again and living without fear of having another run, flipflop.. pause! Take care and keep in touch =)
