leg bruising & swelling after ablation

Two weeks after right side ablation procedure for atrial flutter, I am still experiencing a painful and bruised and swollen thigh/upper calf.
Is this normal? What is the best therapy?
My Dr said to take over the counter pain killers, apply heat, rest and wait it out for 10 days, which are almost up.

I think you should have been taking it easy for the past month, not out cross-country skiing. Where did you go for your ablation?  Are you still on any heart meds or a blood-thinner?  You need to see your dr., or a dr right away.  I know how far you are from a major medical facility.  We've traveled through Haines Junction many times. Don't tarry.

Hi Its very normal. I am recovering from my 3rd ablation done on 12/14. The bruising is starting to disipate however the entry sites as always are still tender and swollen. They take for me well in excess of a month to be fully healed. Just take it easy you can ice it but try to refrain from bending stooping or picking things up in excess of 10 lbs as this will only further aggravate it. Relax heal and give all including you heart time to mend

Hi Gary, your comment is helpful thank you! I know this is off topic but I wanted to know how you are doing after your third ablation?  I had two ablations and they didn’t do what was expected. Still thinking about reconsidering the third!

Just as each of us react differently to medicine, the same is true with surgery.  What takes 2 weeks for one person, may take a bit longer for another to heal.  I would def watch the area and if it keeps on and you don't have an appt, call and see your dr., if you do have an appt soon, it's worth mentioning to let them check it out.

It's been almost 4 mths since I had a pacemaker/icd implanted along with and EPs; ablation and cardiac cath and I'm still sore if I hit the right inside thigh area but my left thigh doesn't hurt even though it has the larger scar.
