I just want everyone to know I have lived with heart palps since I was 24 years old and im not 44. I have had every test done, been to a cardiologist, been to the emergency room numerous times, and nobody can ever find anything wrong. Some people just have this. Thats what every doctor has told me. I have learned to live with them, just try to remember they will not kill you, your heart will not stop beating, and you will be ok, you have to mentally tell yourself that every day. I can go months with not having one, and then have a few every days for months. I think it depends on the stress and whats going on in my life at the time. I truly believe I have some chemical that triggers them when i am excited, nervous or stressed out and thats what causes them for me.  I have a small stash of Valium that I take if they get too bad and I start to have a panic attack, and those work for me. So it seems to be a stress hormone or chemical release .

Sometimes when taking a deep breath our hearts have a tendency to 'slow down'.  When our BP is up from activity, or midst other outside stimuli, it does mimic a PVC because the heart is actually slowing on the next beat, which sometimes feels like a more forceful one. I get these all the time.  PVCs, the ones that come out of the blue, or when then come on at 5+ more in a row that scare the dog poop out of me.  Sometimes I'll get a 5 in a row, normal beat, then another 5 in a row.  HAH!  WHEW! Sheeh!  Instant Panic Attack!  This happends every blue moon.  Random PVC's and even sometimes PACs occur throughout the day, some days I feel them, some days I don't.  Some days I don't have any symptoms, sometimes I have symtoms.  It is interesting to realize that my symptoms are more severe if I'm already anxious.  If I'm calm they don't seem to have any symptoms.  Is this called asymptomaic?  Hope this helps-- Zach

Hello. I've been coping (poorly) with PVC's for at least 15 years now and nobody has been able to tell me what causes *my* particular events. I hear a lot about the more common causes, but that doesn't really calm my mind, as most of the things aren't relevant to me.

I don't drink or smoke or use drugs. I never take cold medications or drink caffeine. I eat a piece of chocolate once in a blue moon. (I even called Hershey and spoke to a woman who told me that a Hershey bar has a much caffeine as a decaffeinated cup of coffee.) I do have a lot of stress in my life, mostly surrounding these unbearable PVC's! If they cause themselves, I'm really in trouble. It's a catch-22!

I need something to break that link between worrying about them happening and them happening because I am worrying about them.

I can't imagine having to live with these the rest of my life and my case is much less severe than some people's I've read on here.

Hello...

Changes in your body’s autonomic tone can affect how frequently PVC’s occur, or how prominent the sensation is when they do occur (most of the time PVC’s are asymptomatic). Sometimes, the increased vagal tone causes a slower heartbeat, which facilitates the premature beats.

It is always a good idea to have symptoms, if they are new onset, evaluated. If your evaluation confirms that you have an otherwise healthy heart...it is then learning what triggers your PVC's, avoiding those triggers and then learning to live with them.

My cardiologist told me that PVC can be a concern and should be checked out. I think it depends on whether they are in any sort of rhythm, but not sure.  My son and I both get them when we eat fatty foods.

Just a thought, but even though they're probably benign, you should still see a doctor and get an EKG just to be sure...

My wife is a nurse and tries to understand but when they sometimes consume my life i feel like a have no control. I get them lots of times when I first lie down at night to go to bed, it is like my heart is trying to adjust itself to the position, I will especially get them if I have had a drink of water. I hate it, in fact, I do not going to bed because of it. I know the doc says this is benign and my heart is fine, but, phooey, I am still scared of the wretched things, and they DO bring on panic attacks, for me, at least. What a vicious circle.

Yeah, I get a skipped beat often when trying to take deep breaths! Also when standing up or bending over...
Very scary, as I don't really know what's going on, why the hell would my heart decide on such a cruel joke as stopping for a beat! And then I have to gasp for a while, while my heart is pounding like crazy...

Yeah my PVCs seem be accompanied by a very anxious, panic feeling, so it's almost impossible to get sleep from the heart racing and PVCs. Also it feels like something's wrong because I didn't use to have these before...

But yeah they're supposed to not be dangerous at all so...
Wish the best to ya all though...

I must tell you that if I really start thinking about having these pvc's for the rest of my life, I just might lose my mind. My sense of well being is GONE! I can't look forward to anything, they drive me insane, they literally drain me with worry. I take Inderal 25mg daily, I wonder if I up the dose if they would go away???? Any one out there feel the same??
I was just watching Tropical Thunder, and had to stop watching because of the pvc's. I just as soon go to bed, and see if they go away as to stay up and experience every last one of them. Any thoughts??

I hate changing positions and getting those "darn" PVC's, first of all they are so bothersome...I don't care how benign they supposedly are, they are still scary at times...has anybody experienced this...lets say I take a deep breath...PVC happens...another deep breath...another PVC...I keep doing(not sure why, probably trying to figure out what's causing this) but anyway...I did this for the 4th time and it was like my heart started beating all funky...like it was real erratic...like it couldn't catch a good sinus rhythm....needless to say...scared me to death..and afterwards...my heart felt "screwy" the rest of the night....HAS ANYBODY EVER EXPERIENCED THIS????

I am a paramedic, and very cumulative with the heart. I get pvcs also they are scary. You could have been in trigemeny or bigeminy. Did the pvc come every certain beat?

I get them when I take a deep breath.  Sometimes I get a short run of nsvt when I take a short breat.  Like 5 or 6 hard fast beats.  This is why I can't do yoga.  The breathing messes with my pvc's.  I get them if I am sitting down and turn my body around to look behind me and I get them when I squat down.

I get pvc's standing, sitting, after eating, bending over, laying on left side, many different positions. Does anyone ever get like a vibration in your chest??

My goodness. I thought I was imagining my deep breaths making my heart skip! I guess I'm not alone. And yes, turning my head has made it happen too. Or when I sit down after standing for only a few minutes.

I was getting PVC's while taking a deep breath for a while.  Then I started meditating to work on breathing and the PVC's from taking a breath went away after a while.  It scared me to do it at first because I would make them worse but I just slowly worked on it.  I would listen to my body and while breathing if they got bad I would stop and try again the next day.  I am meditating nightly before bed so I had results really fast.

I have gotten them when I take a deep breath, or when I lying down, or turn my head. I think mine are due to my hiatal hernia, when I breath or turn, it moves it and it touches some reflex causing the annoying flutters.

I can not remember when I read it, but, there was a gal that posted in this forum a while back, and she said every time she turned her head, or reached in the back seat of the car, she experienced them, I believe she said she had a hiatal hernia too.

It is weird, for me, it does not take much to flare an attack up. I take fish oil liquid, and it helps lots, and I just started drinking Pomegranate Juice and it seems to be helping too, I just had one glass so far, but, I feel so much better, I know it is great for plaque build up, I did a google search and was very impressed with what I read, my naturopath prescribed it for me. It tastes like a red wine, sort of on the dry side.

Anyway, try not to worry, in a structurally normal heart, these darn things are benign, they may not feel like it, but, our doctors assure us they are.

Hugs
