They pushed adenosine into your veins really fast. It stops your heart from beating, you feel like you're gonna die because ur heart literally STOPPED. Then your normal rate & rhythm starts back up. An ablation by an EPS Dr is the only way to "cure" the problem. I have seen people carioverted which is basically stopping the heart as well. Its like the heart being shocked to kick back into normal rate. That's for people who have super high SVTs (Hr 129-250) that don't react to adenosine. For VT's (V-Tach) ventricular tachycardia (HR over 250 w/o any P waves) they place a defibilator pacemaker that will shock your heart into normal rhythm everytime it goes into V-Tach. I'm an ICU RN & see this all the time. Very common & the ablations are done very often & considered simple procedures. The filter is placed through the groin into the femoral artery into the superior vena cava to filter clots from going to the brain (stroke) or heart (heart attack) or lungs (pulmonary embolism). Clots form when blood pools in the atrium from the heart not kicking out enough blood from it.
ok....will do...thanks Robin
hello,
Dont be afraid of a ablation, they arent bad, plus if it will help then I would go for it. Good Luck with the echo and let me know how you make out. :)
Thanks,
Robin
ohhhh...now i see what an ablation is....thankz....they wanted to do that to me about 10 years ago...but i was scared to death....i go on mar 3rd to have another echo do will let you no how it goes.....thankz again
Hi,
Its a procedure they do to stop a abnormal rhythm. They will take you to a EP lab, give you some good meds, you wont know much, at least I didnt. They thread some catheters up through your groin into the inside of your heart and they map the area looking for the problem area. When they locate the area thats giving you the problem, they use radio frequency to burn that spot. Its not as bad as it sounds. Just make sure you have a good Ep doc that is experienced in doing ablations.
Please let me know how you make out with your appt.
Talk Soon,
Robin
actually...i have an appt today at 2:40 with a cardio....but plz tell me...whatthe heck is a ablation...ive been hearing on this forum thatword a lot...and i see for some..they have had it 2 and 3 times..im curious now....plz tell me.. thanks for the response too!
I think I would make an appt with a cardio or a Ep specialist soon, for both you and your daughter.I know what it feels like with a heart rate that high, mine was at 250 bpm before. I went to a Ep and had an ablation done. Have you seen a cardio before?
