sudden heart rate jump

I an 66, no heart medications, just tansulosine. I was looking at some family pictures, on the computer when all of a sudden I felt my heart beating too fast.I could feel it on the skin.
I got up and start to walk around and do something else, but the heart did not normalize; so I went to lie on bed to have some rest and take the blood pressure. After some 15 min, readings gave:  101, 74 and HR=133 (normally my readings are 12-14, 9,5-10,5 qnd HR=55to 65). I repeeted measurements after 15 min or so and had the same results HR= 135, 133,  131.
Noticing  the blood presure  was a bit low, I had a couple of sips of Amareto and the HR came down to 95 and now, it is 93. still too high.
Could you tell me if I should go to the hospital to get some proper medication?
What  precautions shoul I have?
Thanks for your kind reply.    my email adress is ***@****

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
You need to see a doctor.  I can't really assess over the internet if  you need to see someone now or if you can wait.

Heart rates elevated in that range can sometimes mean that you have an arrhythmia but an EKG during that heart rhythm is the first step to determine what that rhythm is.  There is a list of about 5 things that it could be but more information is needed.

If you do not feel well (chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, etc), you should seek medical attention.  It will help in the treatment of the heart rhythm if the EKG is done while you are in the abnormal rhythm.

Thanks you very much for your kind reply. That was helpfull, and I already made an appointment with the cardiologist. I hope the problem is not very serious.
Thanks again.
