wolff parkinsons white (WPW) getting ablation procedure WHILE PREGNANT!!

About a month before finding out I was pregnant I learned that I had WPW in the emergency room. I couldn't even get in to seeing a dr until after I had gotten pregnant. My symptoms and episodes have got worse and more frequent due to the pregnancy I believe. I'm 25 weeks pregnant now and my dr told me I need to get the ablation done because I'm now having 2-4 episodes a day. He's worried about labor and me delivering or even being able to finish the rest of my pregnancy without the procedure being done. I tried the metoprolol and had an allergic reaction so he kinda gave up on the medication idea. He wants to do the procedure at 28 weeks. I'm so scared. What can I expect for the procedure and after the procedure? I know WPW is rare but if anyone's had ablation please tell me your experience!!

I had an ablation for avnrt.  Not the same as yours but the ablation is pretty similar.  The only issue with WPW might be the chance of the spot being on the left side. Then they may have to make a small hole to get over there to the spot.  I was told of the same possible thing happening to me.  My spot was near the av node and there was a chance that I could have needed a pacemaker if it was too close but it wasn't.  Ablations for svts are really incredibly safe with low complications rates so you need not worry but I can see your concern with the baby but I doubt they would approve of doing it if they felt either of your were in danger.  I suspect they are waiting until the baby has enough development where it is safe.  It can be very scary to do the procedure but when it was all said and done it wasn't so bad for me.  If you want to read about mine you can click on my name and read my journal entry.  I wish you the best of luck with yours.  I will keep you in my prayers.  Keep us posted on how you are doing.

WPW is always right sided unless Olivia has a congenital heart condition and from her description, I believe she has a structurally normal heart.  WPW ablation will be straight foreward assuming the EP is experienced.
