Help for my (now 6 yr old) son's hemorrhoid.

My son has had a hemorrhoid since he was about 2 yrs old. But it would only appear when he pooped. As he gotold older, the hemorrhoid got bigger. He never complained about pain until it came to wiping. The doctor told me it wasnt hemorrhoids because its extremely rare for a child that young to have them. And since my son ONLY had them appear when he pooped, and there was zero evidence otherwise, I had no proof.

Well, when he was about 5 1/2, he started having stomach pains associated with having to poop. His poops had always been semi solid up until that time too. So I scheduled another trip to the doctor but this time I took pics of his butt to prove to the doc it wasn't just me being paranoid.

I showed the doctor and he didn't know what to do, so he sent us to a children's place a few hours away, they took some tests, everything came back normal. So they sent us to the Mayo children's hospital in Rochester, MN. They did more tests (including one where they filled his body with fluid with a tube through his butt hole!). Still nothing. Everything came back negative.

There was no internal signs of a hemorrhoid. All his organs were in the right places. Everything was showing completely normal. They ended up just putting him on a daily regimen of miralax. Which he is still doing. Been doing it for about a year now. Still gets that damn hemorrhoid (which is always about the size of a grape).

I am wondering if anybody else has gone through this with their child and if y'all found anything that works to keep it from coming back. We have tried some creams and changing his diet, but neither seemed to do any good. He is 6 now (7 next summer) and still has to worry about that stupid thing when he wipes and also has to use wet wipes to get fully clean (because he has to wipe so gently so as not to puncture it). Thanks in advance!
