Hepatitis A can return?

My wife was diagnosed with Hepatitis A on August 2007 and according to doctor after curing this virus will never appear again
On 5 of March 2008, My wife started to feel pain in stomach, the liver side, and urine change the color to the tea color, yellow skin and eye. I mean, all symtomps which she had before.
So we are worried what is this? from our knowledge hepatitis A was not supposed to return. Is there any other problem and what is that?

HepA can last for 6-9 months. see below.

How Long Do Hepatitis A Symptoms Last?
Hepatitis A symptoms are usually mild and last one to two weeks. Occasionally, the symptoms are more severe and recovery can take several months. Up to 10 percent of people with the disease are ill for as long as six to nine months. In these cases, symptoms may come and go (known as relapsing hepatitis).

I was under the assumption too that once you had hep A, you were immune to it.  When I was dx'd with HCV, tests showed I also had hep A at some point ("Hepatitis A antibody is positive.......she does have immunity to hepatitis A")

Obviously, your wife still has issues with her liver, either from her prior HAV infection or due to something altogether different. Bears checking out, what ever the case.

Best of luck and hope your wife feels better soon...........

This is the Hepatitis C Forum. Below is the link to Med Help’s Hepatitis A forum. They will probably have more knowledge about Hepatitis A than we do. Good Luck
