Disappointment and depression

HBsAg + since 2005
PCR HBV not detectable since then
HBeAg seroconversion since then
ALT always remained normal

waited for it to resolve but time did not help

so started pegsys to get rid of HBsAg

at start of  inf therapy HBsAg was 20
and then after 5th inj ALT was 103

Now after 11th inj the ALT is 59 and
HBsAg is 18

Now this is disappointing
It seems Pegasys had no effect on HBsAG

Is this HBsAg + status forever ?????????????

steady peintf levels are reached only between 5th and 8th week so you can only expect a decline kinetics between 12th and 24th weeks, if no decline after the 24th week then we can assume there is no response

HBsAg values are quantitative in IU/ml

You were already low. I don't think IFN works on low HBsAg.

the first result of pegintf is at 24 weeks, if you are at 11th week it is too early, it might even rise in this period

is baseline hbsag 18iu/ml?why you did not write the unit after the number?

if it is something like 10-20iu/ml you ll clear 99%, according to genotype even values 200iu/ml are cleared with highest probability.the rule is the lower hbsag the more pegintf response because it has been found that hbsag suppresses both interferon and our immune system

How do u know the probability of getting rid of HBsAg is high ??

I have searched the literature and it says 3% after an year
9 % after 3 years and 12 % after 5 years are the chances of loss of HBsAg

all the studies of hbsag kinetics on peginterferon, you have to look for the latest studies on 2012-2013, only european studies and some asian ones since other countries dont use hbsag quantitative.also all members of the community who cleared fast had low hbsag
all the studies are also posted here if you search carefully

it is also obvious it is well known since 2009 that high hbsag makes pegintf non response

remember to make your vitd25oh levels high like 90-100ng/ml, with low vitamin d there is peginterferon non response
