Drastic Improvement!!!

Hey! I got my new Lab results yesterday after my new Doctor requested me to stop taking Lamivudine which i took for 2 weeks. Here are my initial and latest results:

HBeAg:
From: Reactive (1,280)
To: Reactive (7.785)

Anti-HBe:
From: Non-Reactive (6.82)
To: Reactive (0.495)

This were the results after 2 weeks of not taking in anything except for a liver supplement. At first, the doctor knew it is Chronic, but since my ALT/AST levels are way too high than normal (500+ according to him is not normal for Chronic carriers), he had a second thought that it might only be an Acute infection (though the tests say it's Chronic).

What happened here???? I don't know but I would like to put it as a miracle... Can this possibly lead to totally clearing out the virus?

yeah, this is really great news. What if my doctor doesnt want me to take any anti-virals yet? i assume he is thinking that i may clear the virus without taking anything... but what is your opinion about the drastic improvement considering that i only took 2 weeks of lamivudine monotherapy then 2 weeks of no treatment at all? i was actually expecting that i might see some improvement but not this much or at least retain the initial findings... i'm quite excited actually. what i've been doing lately is to take immunity booster shots that i bought from a known juice selling booths here. that tastes great too, hahaha!

That not meant to discourage you.  I hope you are the lucky 1% who clears.  But it's best to keep expectations in check.  Keep us updated :)

That is good news.

So your are both positive for HBeAg and Anti-HBe right now?

It looks like you are on the borderline of the E seroconversion.  This usually occurs in the 3 decade of the infection.  So go through it earlier, some later.  Antivirals like Lamivudine helps mount pressure on the virus to help this process, but if the pressure stops, the virus could produce more eAntigen and overwhelm the eAntibody again.  Don't be too surprise if your Anti-HBe returns to Non-Reactive.  Usually if you succesfully E serconverted, most doctors like to keep you on antivirals for at least another 6 months.

If you are chronic, your surface antigen (HBsAg) will likely stay positive, which mean you are still a chronic carrier.

Discuss this with your doctor.
