HBIG - Hepatitis B immunoglobulin, aka, HBsAg monoclonal antibody. Antibodies are useful in preventing infection,as they attach to the circulating hbv viral particles preventing their entry into a liver cell. But they are useless against already infected liver cells.

Just my understanding.

I have to disagree with the blog. I think Iran has 2% HBV infection rate. The study is simply to confirm the effectiveness of various monoclonal HBsAb. Don't forget we have HBIG for a long time now.
