Genotype Question

I just left a visit from my liver doctor. I asked him my genotype he tells me that hep b has no genotype. He says genotypes only exsist with hep c because of the different types.

I got infected 25 years ago,I am 57 now, don't be scared, you need to find a liver specialist[hepatologist].If you are on treatment and your viral load is low,you can't get your genotype.

I was told my viral load is 944 but im confused because he said that I was in the millions elsewhere
Last month i asked my GI Dr about my genotype, the dr said don't know,  and then i asked about my blood type, the dr. Said i am not doing blood transfusion, don't know either.  And now i am looking at my blood report fron 2009, and it states not able to determine genotype, or any mutation, i guess i missed the boat.

There is a hepatologist here I just found him on google and he accepts my insurance

Your health insurance must love your doctor.I am playing with my insurance right now for my first fibroscan in US,even if I have my doctor's order, they say it is experimental and don't pay,it is crazy!

No he's a gastroenterologist I think I said that correctly. He says that my log is in the millions I know very little about the terms but trying to educate myself. I hope you all understand my comment.

This is a basic thing, i really don't know who provided him the license to treat people with hbv! So scary!

I agree I can't let them play with my life. Everything I ask for DNA they give it word of mouth never on paper. Never has tried to give an ultrasound as I have asked over several of times.

better find other doctor, that one has very poor knowledge. Treatment for hbv is not genotype dependant like for hcv but there are genotypes
