Hepatitis b

On 12 April  2014 when I was 4 weeks pregnant I texted positive for Hepatitis B. I still have no idea how long I've had it for. Does this mean I'm a carrier? If so, what are chances that it I could get sick some day.

Hi Malamba, if you still have the hepatitis b virus, then you are a chronic carrier. Most chronic carriers do not have any symptoms, and live normal lives as if they are not infected. But they are able of tramsmitting the disease to their sexual partners and/or if their blood enters other people's open sores. This means your sexual partner has to be vaccinated against hepatitis b to prevent from transmission.
Although you might not have symptoms you need to keep track of your infection status through monitoring your hbv dna, liver function tests, fibroscan, etc to make sure whether the virus is doing damage to your liver. Monitoring would also help your doctor decide whether to put you on any treatment.
