How to lower ALT?

Before treatment my ALT was in the high 20s, low 30s.  Every since I've been on Tenofovir (Viread), my ALT has remained between 38-42.

Besides healthy eating, how can I lower my ALT?

Work performed by the late antonin holy has shown that both adefovir and tenofovir clearly have the capacity to stimulate macrophages, thus a mild stimulation of intrahepatic lysis would be a likely explanation. The effect was so strong that they even considered adefovir as cancer therapy.

But these nucs were originally developed to treat cancer. Then they decided to treat HIV with them. And incidentally found that it suppressed hbv as well. So FDA approved it for us in doses based on HiV data.

But what bothers me is this Alinia is also suppressing hbv and surface antigen production and yet it is not approved.

immune system based therapies work better for us. We need to stop discussing these useless antivirals and confuse new people what to do best.

What really is best to do is for everyone to write to Replicor and demand that treatment. Tell your doctor about that treatment they have. This is how we can make any real change to happen.  But if we continue to take nucs forever cure will never come. These drug companies are not interested in it. For them it is more convenient to hide behind regulations they actually have lobbied and payed for. But if people will refuse their products and tell why then something may change.

And I hope honest doctors will join us. There are better hbv treatment strategies available now that we are here discussing rather then just taking nucs life time.

It is ok. I have those same values.

We both need interferon or zadaxin to stimulate the immune system even more. Alt elevation is not bad in itself that means the body somewhat fights it. Nucs as you know dont stop the virus.

Bottom line dr.Gish needs to try new things. Things I have asked  him that they do in other countries. We all need interferon plus symvastatin followed by zadaxin to increase immune system holding antibodies if svr is achieved.

But where in the USA they are willing to do this - to think outside what the drug and insurance company allows beats me.

All I know is that taking antivirals for years alone is a bad thing.
