sorry for got to say truvada is used on hiv-hbv coinfection at the moment from many years, it is still on trial for hbv monoinfection but the combo of tdf+ftc (truvada) has been found to have very potent synergysm plus ftc is very active in lowering cccdna which correlates to hbsag.
the bad of this drug is that if you don't achieve seroconversion it can have sides after 10 or more years use and discontinuation is dangerous

alinia is off label but if you like you can follow our posts and try it, it is very cheap, free of sides, no resistance issues and you can try it even if inactive because it is active against hbsag and hbeag antigens but don't expect easy seroconversion on monotherapy if hbsag is high

it is also important to know your hbvdna quantity, if hbe pos or neg to predict results on alinia-Low hbsag, hbeab positive, low hbvdna quantity are good to start.
alt/ast are not important if normal/abnormal but high alt/ast with low hbvdna are good signs of active immune response

you have to check your hbsag quantity with iu/ml unit, only specialized labs, very few in US many in europe.
if you are so lucky to have it at 1000-1600iu/ml you can have chances with interferon (heavy sides, it requires 1-10years after therapy), alinia, truvada (about 11% seroconversion per year).

if hbsag is higher chances of seroconversion are from extremely low to zero, you can just stop liver damage if disease is active by antivirals/interferon but therapy is required only if there is damage with active disease otherwise just monitor

Depending on your status and viral load there is treatment that could help towards seroconversion. Although not a cure mind you and it only really usually controls the virus so it isnt violently active. You may be lucky and clear the virus. There is a 1-2 % chance every year that a chronic carrier could seroconvert and the drugs may help. Ask your doctor about them.
