I am 27 years old and suffered from Jaundice in June 2014. I cleared the jaundice in 4 weeks. During Jaundice I came to know my Hbsag was positive. I was negative for hepatitis A and C. My doctor told me that I might have chronic hbv. I just want to add that my mother received hep b vaccine and was negative for hep b before my birth. And both of my brothers are also negative for hep b. In Aug 2014 I went for hbv dna PCR which came out undetected less than 50 iu/ml. And my hbeag came out negative. My doctor told me that I am chronic inactive carrier. I consulted an infectious disease specialist and he told me that i had an acute infection and I have probably cleared it, so I should check for the antibodies. I went back to my doctor and asked him to prescribe the antibodies test. He said that he would check me for Anti hbc Igm to see if I have developed life long immunity. I have heard that this is the test for acute infection check and not immunity check. My doctor thinks that I am a chronic carrier because I am underweight and there has been no recent significant risk factor so he thinks I must have contracted it in childhood. But I am confused that can a disease be so quiet for so long. I never had any symptoms. Shall I change the doctor or shall i go for the anti hbc igm test? Sorry for the long question but i am really confused, please help.
