What is a good measure of liver damage? A biopsy?

Hello, Stephen is right.  When my biopsy came back as cirrhosis the doctor said that my AST/ALT did not indicate the severity of my illness.  While they were slightly elevated I was in trouble so that is not a good measure of your livers health
Good luck

If you have persistently normal ALT ( < 19 u/l for female and < 30 for male) then  this should indicate no inflammation, no ongoing liver damage and no ongoing fibrosis. But ALT is a not a measure of past liver damage nor existing fibrosis.
