LDN and post interferon syndrome.

I have just started on Low dose Naltrexone and although it is only a few days have noticed
a lessening of inflammation. Unlike most medical drugs I have taken it does not feel like
poison to the system. It has been used in a wide range of auto immune and connective tissue
disorders with positive reviews from many users. Although I have not been diagnosed with
any of these diseases..yet... I know that what I am going through is connected to treating with
interferon and it feels like my immune system has been compromised by the drug.
I wondered if anyone else in the community has had experience of LDN..?..although it is
not a cure I am hopeful regarding its ability to lessen symptoms.

So good to hear from you Frank but am sorry you have a bit of setback as you were certainly flying about in the fall. It has also been a mixed time for me. I still hold that it operates like Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and I pay for it when I try to take on too much.

It basically is brain inflammation and that causes CFS. What helps are stimulants (Ritalin, better: Dexedrine) in combination (important!) with anti inflammatory drugs like LDN, Curcumin etc. and of course an Anti Inflammatory Diet.
That's the best thing you can do these times... and praying from time to time.

Bruin1903, how is your LDN inflammation treatment going?

I had so much energy this summer/fall then I seemed to go backward for a month, not sure why... got some renewed energy, then went backward again just recently.

I have read some postings that sometimes it is good to reduce LDN if it does not seem to be working so I have gone from 2.75ml to 2.0ml daily and that may be the reason for the renewed energy...

There are just so many variables which I will try to go into in a longer post to re-introduce myself as soon as I do have the time - right at the moment have so much going on it is mind boggling! but that seems to fall on many of us...

I finished my treatment 1,5 ago. I feel so bad, it looks like my body going to downhill ,
I don't know what to do anymore. I got Hashimoto's, I got really bad reflux, constant, never mind what I eat, pain all over, I feel just terrible. Where to go and what to do? Have no idea anymore.

Hello Charm, am so sorry that you are having a horrible time. Did you treat with Interferon ? I am at a similar distance from my treatment and it can be very tough indeed. I hope you have a good Doctor who can at least help with treating the symptoms while you work out a strategy. I know very well the desperation and it is horrible place. I cannot claim anything like full recovery but clean diet, supplementing with B and D vitamins plus Magnesium has helped .

They are finding LDN is used to treat various forms of inflammation in the body.  Just watched a news story which states that inflammation may be the route of cancer, Alzheimer's, hepatitis,  and many forms of muscular disease such as MS.  It's been overlooked in the medical community as it's inexpensive and therefore big pharmas are unwilling to spend the money on clinical trials. I do believe we are going to be hearing a lot more on this treatment in the near future.
Also mentioned in the news story was Cannibus oil.  It seems it also reduces inflammation in the brain which is also a culprit for many diseases.  Interestingly with the oil you only need a small amount to exhibit change.
They also went on to say that it's a benefit for those of us with liver disease.
Controversial, I know.  In prior studies I've seen just the opposite.

Low Dose Naltrexone is being used extensively for MS and all kinds of
autoimmune dysfunction .....Since treating with interferon I have suffered with inflammation throughout my body. LDN is helping reduce this. LDN is naltrexone at less than a tenth of the dose which is licensed for treatment of alcoholism.

I'm not sure what kind of inflammation you refer but the idea of Naltrexone for that reason is interesting and I have never heard of it being used that way.

I  maybe have a cure to the IFN damage, though it's damn expensive it seems to cure the root cause.
I'll keep you updated....
