Life after Hep C

I took interferon/ribaviran twice after they added a cocktail. It cost me a six figure job. I have gotten over that but after 10 years the pain is unmanageable. I was aArmy Ranger then a military contractor for years I know pain. They have treated my thyroid removed my gallbladder. I took ? 10 300 acetaminophen for years finally it stopped working. I stopped it but now all I can think of is suicide. I am now 67 and I cannot see a life with this pain. I have 3/4 cirrhosis. Any last hopes? Every night I look at my gun then my dog he keeps talking me out of it. I also have PTSD. I think maybe my number is up.

Omg no! Please don’t give up on life. I’ve had a similar experience without the added complication of PTSD. See another doctor. Someone has to be able to give you some relief. Try meditation, it can give you much peace and ease suffering. Easing the mental pain helps with the physical pain. Try CBT, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. It can help you reframe how you look at your pain and help you deal with it. The mind is a powerful thing and it can do wonders. Keep us posted on your progress and best of luck to you.

Hi JT,

We're sorry you're in so much pain, but really glad you reached out.

What kind of care are you getting? Can you get into pain management? Get your thyroid checked?

Are you getting your PTSD treated? Is there a VA near you that has any kind of support group, or counseling?

Also, having your gun with you is scary. Is there a friend or family member that can hold that for you? Even if you can only do it for your dog right now, that's good enough for now, while you get other things addressed.

If you are feeling suicidal, there are many places you can reach out to.
