Flu shot 11 months POET

I was doing what I thought was relativity well in my recovery, yes I was suffering from what seems to be the norm if I considered PIS to be true. Now since getting my Flu shot a week and a half ago I feel worse than any day on treatment. Vomiting, diarrhea and extreme body pains and headache. Is this normal and I know it should not be. Are they related? At some point I would say I feel my life ebbing away from me and I am scared. I didn't fight this fight to go down like this.

Hi I hope you are feeling better now.
Like Otter I have problems now with different medications now after tx so thank you for sharing your experience with the flu shot.

I think I will pass on it myself.  I am just starting to feel better and don't want to do anything to screw it up :)

My system seems really sensitive.i.e. painting my apt made me sick, getting new carpet made me sick.

Take Care

Thanks for the heads up on the flu shot, I meet with my new hematologist at the end of the month, and was going to get the flu shot afterwards, now I will ask him about him when I meet with him. FYI I got my 2 Hep A and Hep B shots while on Tx and had no problem.

Totally agree with o.w.

Anytime I get bloodwork it can vary greatly. My gp tries to see if vitamins will change things, such as IV iron - which usually causes constipation but did the exact opposite with me... After three doses of the IV iron and waiting a month my numbers just moved a bit.

I am really tired of all this. I tried a vitamin/mineral regimen about 5 years ago (and told my current gp) and felt nothing different. When I got off everything was when I felt much better! My system just could not handle all that extra junk.

I will let the insurance pick up the junk this time - probably try them for a week and if they mess me up stop taking them and let them sit on a shelf...

... and Yes, stress is a real trigger!

At least my gp agrees with me that there is no reason to do the flu jab...

take care all

I have developed strange intolerances since treatment-most prescription drugs are a problem-have you looked up post viral fatigue syndrome? Sufferers seem to have an intolerance to medications...stress also causes ill health. You may have just had a nasty reaction to the flu jab, hopefully you'll recover soon. I had so many tests-all came back clear-don't have the energy for it anymore-just getting on as best as.Do hope you start to feel better soon,it is early days yet.

My blood work has been fine she , my doctor told me my ultra sounds were better than could be accepted size shape and sound she also order another round Comprehensive Metabolic, CBC W/Diff , Amylase, Lipase, Rheumatoid factor ANA HCV RNA PCR Quant, Anti-CCP. As well as upper and lower GI's.... Stat. Hell I don't know what to expect anymore. Guess getting a flu shot means different things to different people.
Now I have alot of other things to consider.

Hi there, I hope you are feeling better today and hope you will update everyone as to how you are doing :)
That is amazing that you are the only patient who pushed through tx.  I have to admit it was not easy for me.

I recently read that interferon can  reduce our dopamine levels...still looking into that :)

I met someone who had HCV, he drank a 6 pack every night much more on the weekend for 30 years.  When he was first dx the doctor could not believe it, he said you would be dead with HCV and drinking like that. When they did his biopsy he was only at a stage 2.
What a miracle.

How is your blood work? You may not need a biopsy now.

Well I hope you are feeling better, take it easy, Dee

Thank you, I have an appointment with my PCP today. The funny thing about her is that I am her only patient that pushed through treatment. So we compare notes... all that this am is much better. I am still concerned about what seems to me to be a lack of info on PIS. What have to truly subjected our bodies too. I will also ask for a biopsy never had one and drank like a fish for years.

You had a reaction to a flu shot.  I thought and looked at everything after treatment as possibly being related to Hepatitis C treatment.  Mostly because like you I still didn't feel all that great.  But you are only a year from end of treatment and you treated a whole year.  I treated 6 months and it took 18 months to believe this nightmare was temporary.  You had a reaction to a flu shot.  If this continues to bother you.  See a doctor.

Hang in there

Hi me again, did you take the regular flu shot or the new one that is much stronger, covers more types of flu.  I found this

http://blogs.hepmag.com/cgi-bin/mt/mt-comments.cgi

If you go to the bottom of the page you can see that her husband got sick from the new flu shot.
I will keep looking, please stay hydrated

Dear Tim hang in there.  I have to say that I have noticed that if I have an injury I seem to have problems.  I have also read on here something about immune systems over reacting.  Have you called your doctor abut being sick from the flu shot?
I can only say that I am sorry about this, I will try to search for any information I can find for you, treat the symptoms of course, drink lots of water.  Please call your doctor.  Is it possible that at the same time you have caught something else? Don't shoot me I am grabbing at straws here trying to help :)
