“Is this curable?”

Yes!

Today with the new generation medicines DAA’s (direct acting antivirals) have about a 98% or better cure rate. Note: cure means the virus is not detectable in your blood 12 weeks after finishing treatment. However, you will always test positive for hepatitis C antibodies because you were previously infected with the virus.

“Is hepatitis C serious?”
Hepatitis C is called a silent illness as most people experience little to no symptoms until they have been infected for many years to decades. Hepatitis c is slowly attacking your liver every day but it takes many years for this attack to cause serious liver damage in most cases. The best thing to do is treat and cure your hepatitis c before that can happen.

I was also infected with genotype 1a the most common in the US. I treated with the old treatment at several times but without any success. After 30 years on infection I was diagnosed with liver cirrhosis. But even with that history I was able to be cured with the new generation DAA meds.

Best of luck with treatment I’m sure you will be fine.
