12 months PCR results

I received the results of my 12 months after treatment PCR - undetectable! AST 13, ALT 12

For those of you that don't know me:

1B originally with liver fibrosis between stages 2 and 3

Was on Pegasys and Riba for 53 weeks

Did not experience any significant side effects except for low white blood count and was put on Neupogen for a couple of months.

Good luck everyone! There is cure!!!

I'm so sorry the sides have become so bad. You know how I feel about stopping a couple of weeks early, I did and I'm feeling better than I have in years. I did break out in a terrible rash this week though, just like the Riba rash! It's been three weeks since I did any meds so I don't understand. I'm going to the dermatologist this afternoon. I'll see what she says. If you decide to stop.....enjoy, don't feel guilty!

Congrats on your results! Another relief. It's been a long journey and I wish you the best. Congrats, congrats, congrats! LL

Honey, I imagine igf you doc is away he has someone handling his calls. If you are really worried about stopping you could probably call and ask whomever is covering for him. I can't imagine a week will make a difference but it might make you feel better about dtopping if a doc says to do it. I had a bad new sx start and didn't do my last week of tx either but I was on extended (not that it matters.) I hope you get some relief soon. LL

THG Almost done! Yipeeee!! I hope your sx stop soon after. LL

TnHep,,,Thanks so much for your words of encouragement! I know you have had some bad sx's and the length of time can be so darn draggy! The beginning of tx was just bothersome but the end,,,is lingering and like you said,,,,Its more then one thing. Everyday something new crops up to add to the other sides! I'm so happy for you....1 week!! We will have a celebration that day with some sparkly, bubbly grape juice!! Your advice is the best as usual,,,,because I am going to give it to the first of next week and see if I am then having better days to complete this mess! haha Thanks again!

Debbiedo,,,Thanks for writing and I'm so glad your sides are dropping off day by day. I really don't know how you did it as I remember too well your schedule and it was full! I have also been using the cortisone cream and it does seem to slowly heal it! I hope your face clears soon! So,,,,we are all on to SVR!!

I remember you well. You and I start tx right around the same time (Jan 03) - I also cleared, also with minimum sx, although I credit alot of that to Paxil. It made me the most delightful person! My family loved it! Looks like we were able to pick up our lives and continue on with, and I speak for myself, just a new positive, thankful, appreciative out-look in almost every aspect of my day. I'll bet you can relate when I say how grateful I am and how lucky we were.

Honey, wonderful news......I'm also a 1b and just finished 48 wks, 44 wks of Riba and 48 of pegasys. Beginning VL 778,000. Undetectable at 12 wks. You give me so much hope...

Hep Guy......I felt just like you ..This yr was like a bad dream. The roller coaster of sides......I was given 48 wks and like you i wouldnt do one more week for the life of me...I worked all the way through tx, and believe there were days i didnt think i would make it.....
Things do get better after tx. I felt better in about 2 weeks. But, after finishing the last shot on the Nov 22, on about Dec 4 i developed a rash on my face. It looks terrible. I never had anything like this before. Treating it now with cortizone cream and hpefully it will get better.......i havent seen the doc about this as i thought i would self treat first........
Best of luck to you.......Debbie :)

foreign girl - That is great news. Congratulations and thank you for sharing it with us. And best to you as you continue forward.

honey15637 - I'm so sorry to hear that you have such horrible sx's. I hope you are able to get some relief - and soon, too. As far as stopping now rather than finishing the full 52: if the sx's are to the point of intolerability, then it might well be time to call it a day. You've already reached and passed the 48 goal - and that is a great acomplishment in-and-of-itself. How far beyond that should you go? Tx and sx's are so individual that it's really tough to say. Personally, I've had two seperate episodes during the course of tx where I seriously considered packing it in. By the next day it was back to 'normal' (whatever 'normal' is on tx, that is). But for the last 10 weeks or so, I've just had my fill of all this **** - most especially the fact that my sx's seem never to get better, they only drag on - only getting worse, with new ones constantly added along the way. I have 11 days left and know that I wouldn't do much more (if any) beyond that point in time if asked to do so. If you do end up stopping before your 52 week goal, don't beat yourself up over it or lose any sleep. It just means the time to begin your recovery - and the time to acheive SVR - comes slightly sooner.

May God's blessings and mercy be upon you.

Thank you for the kind words. My initial viral load was 5,500,000 IU/ml (high). I wanted to do more than 48 weeks since I still had a detectable viral load of 120 IU/ml at 12 weeks mark. I only had meds that lasted me for 53 weeks - my doctor thought that 48 weeks was enough.

CONGRATULATIONS !!! You have been an inspiration to me since I first found this forum. I finished 2nd round (72 weeks this time) the first week of November. Doc is doing a 2 month PCR in 2 weeks. Hopefully I will be following in your footsteps.

Congratulations! This is truly inspiring for us all! Enjoy your SVR! Wondering also,,,,why the 53 weeks?

Everyone,,,I just completed #50 shot and have 2 more to go. My rash has spread all over me at this point,,,back of legs, arms neck, chest, stomach and now on back. I am up all night itching and tried a pill last night that the dr prescribed for some relief. Toned down the itching a little but today I'm back to literally clawing myself. My dr is on vacation and won't be back for me to see him until Jan 24. Do you all think there would be a big difference in me doing... say 51 weeks and not completing last shot and me finishing up on my own. Or would you all finish meds up after meeting with my dr? Originally,,He told me to keep on meds until I see him and he wants my lab work while on meds but couldn't I just go do labs next week and then quit? I value all your opinions on this as I certaintly don't want to screw up anything over 1 or 2 weeks...

Congratulations! You give me hope. I am doing #48 of 48 tomorrow night!
I am wondering what your viral load was at the beginning and also is there a reason why you did more than 48 weeks? Did you take full dosage throughout?
I am trying to figure out what my odds are, I was undetectable at 12 and 24 weeks, the sides have been pretty nasty but I guess I survived, just one more week to go.
Again, congratulations, we need to read more success stories.
