3.5 years post tx issues

im 34 y male. I was detected HCV in 2003 and cured in 2009 (SVR). i do smoke 2-3 cigarettes a day and usually have drink at some special events (3-4 time in a year). 5.3" height 57 weight. All time sitting on chair while on job. increased belly. No exercise except 20 minutes cycling daily.

5 days ago i ate meat (beef) in lunch. In the evening felt heavy headed, headache and pressure on face. Got checked BP that was 140/100. Dr advised to drink 2 glass of water and sleep. i did so. Next morning i was feeling ok. Yesterday in the evening i felt again the same condition and BP was again 140/100. Dr advised to get frequent readings for 2-3 days and then to contact him. i hv started morning walk of 1 hour daily. avoiding meat and salt intake. i m much worried why it is happening with me. And what should i do. Is it any post tx issue or something else. Please help.

Once the virus is gone its gone, the only way it comes back if one is reinfected. Drinking, smoking, eating cannot bring it back. Try not to worry about it as to much stress can be just as harmful as Hep-C. High BP might have cause the headache... So its a good ideal to get that under control.

Best to you.

off course every health issue should not be blammed to HCV or Tx. i agree with you. This may be a separate issue.  One thing i want to know is whether Relapse is possible after 3 years post tx? Can alcohol lead to Relaps??

"3.5 years post tx issues"

Why the title? Not everything is post treatment issues, believe it or not many people in this world become sick that have never had Hep-C.. I know a shock isn't it?

First I thank you all who have responded for my question………… I went to Doctor yesterday and told him all my patient history and recent health complaints i.e. high blood pressure, acidity and indigestion…….. he checked me thoroughly and said that he  has found some symptoms of mild depression and liver disturbance…He said you are not patient of high BP and there is no need to check BP again…… he recommended for SGPT and SGOT. The numbers were as under:-

SGPT    47          Maximum limit 42
SGOT   54          Maximum limit 45

After watching these figures, he advised me for some medicines for a week and also some further tests that are:-

Cap Esomega 40 mg       1-1
Syp Ulsamic 2-2-2
Tab PK-Merz 1-1
Syp Levijan/ Hepamerz 1-1

1. Fasting lipid profile.
2. PCR Qualitative for HCV RNA
3. Anti HBs Titer

I asked doctor why he is recommending for PCR Qualitative for HCV RNA when I have got SVR? He said that I am suspicious about the quality of test which I got after 6 months of interferon tx……….. I am much worried about his statement.

I'm not exactly sure what specific post treatment issues you are addressing based on your post. Elevated blood pressure, feeling heavy headed and the ache/pressure you have on your face could require more extensive investigation other than your BP - although it is definitely a start.

To be honest if you cicted your cholesterol values, the last time you had an EEK, EKG or otherwise complete physical along with your family history I doubt many people on here could trace the origin of what is happening with you.

Please understand I am in no way discounting your physical complaints; rather, like desrt I am encouraging you to view this as a stand alone health issue and proceed accordingly. You are on the right track by trouble shooting and being methodical about it. I suppose you linked something to eating/not eating meat. There could be a physiological basis for that but the important thing is you are keeping an open mind.

As time progresses others may share changes they have noticed two and three years post treatment and what they did about them. I encourage you to be diligent as you are young and deserve a healthy, vibrant life.

Best of luck to you

The above posters have given you good advice
I only have an anecdotal story to add.  I stopped eating red meat and pork about 10 years ago.  Once you read the dangers it is difficult to continue to ear.  Saying that one day I did eat at a Thai place and had some pork, I was sick for days.  My body just wasn't used to it I guess
I hope you feel better soon

Hey alijee, it's great to see you got your sustained response.
We've had a lot of discussions on this site about people who get post-treatment side effects. My feeling is that it doesn't matter whether any health problems that develop later are caused by having carried the virus in your body for years, or by the interferon, or by aging, or are something that would have developed regardless. The important thing is to get them correctly diagnosed by a good doctor. People on this forum could have the same symptoms as you, but the root cause might be different in each case. Doctors are often reluctant to link health problems to medications that you've taken (especially if they prescribed them) so best to find a doctor who will do the correct testing to diagnose your problem and not worry too much about the cause right now.
The lifestyle changes you are making all sound good. Take care.

you can't make up for what you didn't do all day in 20 minutes....we didn't evolve that way...maybe do laying down...sitting up....then standing up bp...see if it drops like a rock....could be your just so out of shape from sitting down all the time things are shutting down....billy
