He did not complete treatment and he does still have hep c however he has given up the drink, etc and is living healthy. Become a buddhist and all, raises chickens west of Austin and just had another kid. The Austin City Limits show is from May this year, I believe, and he looks good. I'm gonna go see him on the 17th, here in San Antonio.
while i never knew who he was i saw Rank & File back in the 80's and had a cassette tape of them. they were really good. in the rock world i'll bet there are a lot of people with Hep C. and they are all at the age of reconing, like us. 50+, and prolly infected for 20+ years. i'm going with the current protocol (Pegasys) but younger people and low damage people have lots of hope with the Vertex and the other PI drugs in the pipeline.
I live in Austin. Escovedo is a local legend.
I understood that he tried TX and ultimately quit (don't know how long he TXed or why he quit--I think it was extreme side effects based on an article I read in the local paper). Do you know if he ever completed TX and if he still has HepC?
