Am I at risk for Hep C

I went to the emergency room with severe nausea, diarhea, and vomiting. When i went to use the bathroom to vomit I opened the door to the restroom and started vomiting in the toilet and as I was vomiting something I had eaten got stuck in my throat so i stuck my finger down my throat to get it out. Could I catch hepatitis C from touching the doorknob and then sticking my finger down my throat if there was dried blood on the handle and I just didn't see it? Also i noticed that there was dry red stuff on the toilet handle so i used toilet paper to flush the toilet and then washed my hands could that put me at risk?

This and a few other posts that I have read recently remind me of the AIDS scare where ppl thought that being in the same room or eating off of the same spoon of those infected would infect them.

Education is the key role in understanding these types of diseases. With Hep C, You would have to basically ingest blood or have it directly exposed to the blood stream in order to contract it. With HIV or AIDS, you would have to have intimate or blood related contact.

When you have these types of questions, you should really educate instead of wondering or worrying about the possibility of infection.

There is great knowledge out there for those who wish to inquire. The net is an excellent source alone.

Relax, you did not infect yourself.

No.  The hepatitis C virus is spread through contact with infected blood. It must be blood to blood contact and the infected blood must enter the bloodstream of the other person. Common routes of infection include injection drugs (for example, sharing needles), blood transfusions (before 1992), needlestick accidents among healthcare workers, and any other blood-to-blood contact.

The person who used the bathroom after you may run the risk of becoming infected with whatever bug you had but you were not in danger of contracting hepc.

Hope that nasty stomach bug has passed and you're feeling better now.
