Amoxicillin and tx

I was prescribed amoxicillin due to infection. I saw a post about it but it was way back in 2003.

Would the antibiotic affect my tx outcome? I cannot talk to my hepatologist until Monday about that.
Shall I wait or start it?

I took antibiotics many times while I was on treatment and I am SVR. If you need it take it. Plain and simple.

Guys, thanks a lot for your input.

This is something that had bothered me and I didn't want to wait until Monday.

Now I will get the ammunitions and hope that these sx won't be too bad for the next 10 days.

Have you taken amoxicillin successfully in the past? In that case, I can't see it being a problem during tx.

Some people do have bad side effects from it. My younger son broke out in a crazy red rash from head to toe when he was little but some liquid benadryl calmed it down. We changed to something else but I don't remember what.

You may want to have some benadryl handy, just in case.

Antibiotics sometimes become necessary while on TX so don't worry about taking them.  You need to get rid of your infection first and foremost.  As others have said, you might notice additional side effects but it comes with the territory.

I took antibiotics for 7 days while on TX and it was a hard 7 days but it got rid of my infection.

No, amoxicillin will not effect the outcome of your treatment.  If you have an infection, you should take it as long as you are not allergic to penicillin derivatives.  Your liver will be fine.

I was on very high powered antibiotics twice and still UND.

I really don't think that it will affect your tx, or the outcome.  However, antibiotics are very difficult for some ppl to tolerate.  I personally have big problems with antibiotics, they make me sick to my stomach causing diarehha, cramps and all kinds of ill effects.  The reason I don't think they will affect the outcome of tx is because they are not even processed by the same chromesomes that the SOC drugs use.  Keep in mind that your side effects may increase with the use of antibiotics.  latr
