Antibody test 9 weeks

My brothers doctor is worried that he might has hep c and is currently testing him for it. The end of June I stayed at my brothers house and I think I may have used his razor by accident. I am not sure, it might have been mine, but they look the same.
Anyway I was just tested for hep c the of August, 9 weeks after the razor incident. If my brother tests positive for hep c, do I need to retest or is my negative result for August accurate?

Hi there, Cor gave you some excellent information.  If your brother is positive and you cut yourself with the razor;   I would wait 6 months and test again
Only blood on the razor while cutting yourself would give you any chance of contracting virus.  It is blood to blood transmission
Good luck

Hepc antibodies can be appear in the blood anywhere from 2 wks up to 26 wks.  In my opinion, it's safe to say that a negative antibody test 9 weeks after possible exposure means no exposure and your fine.  Given that fact that all this hinges on whether or not your brother has the virus and if so was the razor you used actually his?  Just because you used his razor doesn't mean there was blood transference or and even if there was blood the conditions have to be just right for the virus to enter the bloodstream.

If your brother turns up positive for HCV, you can always have a PCR done and not wait the additional 15 wks for a conclusive antibody test.  HCV RNA PCR test can detect the virus  2-3 weeks after possible exposure.
