Any Hepatologist in the BIG O.C. ???

Hi everyone,

Well my sister is in need of a Hepatologist in Orange County California. Does anyone have any recommendations? Want to lead her down the right track, just like you all did for me. I have been looking and still searching.

A "Gastro" is NOT a Hepatologist (Liver Specialist) !!  Gastro is Stomach and typically has no credentials for Liver Disease treatments or diagnosis.

Anthrosleuth, This thread is a few years old. And, your statement about gastroenterologists is not true. Gastros are well versed in all digestive diseases, including liver disease,  but do not have the "extra" focus on the liver. They are very capable of treating hepatitis C patients unless that patient has end stage liver disease. In fact there are many more gastros treating HCV patients  than are hepatologists as there are not so many hepatologists in the U.S. They are usually found at only academic medical centers.

Dr. Gish has got to be one of the best in the nation.
I believe he's down in San Diego now but I'd suggest doing a google search.
Good luck.

There is one in on the list in Fountain Valley Dr.Ronald Policastro, I looked him up he has good reviews. Never heard of him but you lived here you know its huge!
My gastro is
Hyder Z. Jamal
4300 Rose Drive, Suite G
Yorba Linda,

Another good choice would be UC Irvine
Finding a good doc is not easy, but I was rushed because I chose a horrible doc to begin with. I was lucky and went with hubby's doc. Worked out fine for me. Tell her to take some time and even though there gatro's they may not be that interested in hep c.
I'm going to go over the list Pooh has provided the link for and see if I missed any! Good luck to sis!!

You may want to look at this very long list of doctors who have been recommended by forum members. Maybe there is someone from Orange Co. on this list:
