Anyone else develop chronic epstein barr after hep c treatment?

Just wondering if anyone out there has experienced a post treatment/post viral diagnosis with Chronic Active Epstein Barr.  My treatment ended a little over 2 years ago and I no longer have Hepatitis C(last tested 1 year ago). This past November, my last semester of college, I came down with Mono for the second time in my life. I had been working really hard for my ceramics course, in studio doing physical work for 3, 6 hour days, and as I was trimming my masterpiece I lost my hearing, got spotty vision, and became so dizzy that I totally destroyed the piece I was working on. I had been having pain in my right armpit along with a swollen gland in my neck that got worse and some small swollen glands or cysts around ears. I immediately put two an two together, recognized this exact feeling from my first infection with mono(8 years ago), went to the doctor and demanded a mono test. Of course the doctor thought I was nuts and insisted it was just a cold maybe strep so we tested for that, but I insisted we test for mono too. Not surprisingly, my mono test came back positive, but I finished school in December and haven't had health insurance since then. I rested all day through about February when I started to feel better. Then in April after a day of helping a family member move I started feeling that same dizzy, blurry vision, loss of hearing. I didn't get tested for mono again. I rested for a month again and now, two months later I feel pretty good. I'm really nervous about finding a job as I have no idea what I can handle. My degree in ceramics now feels like a total mistake. I guess I can't go apprentice for a ceramic artist as I planned because I can't work a job that is constantly physically straining. I've been applying for every part time receptionist/ admin asst. job I find but nothing is coming through. Honestly I need a full time job w/ benefits so I have health insurance again but I'm so worried that working full time with just bring up another bout of mono. Sorry to rant but I just wanted to see if there was anyone with a similar experience or some suggestions.

Actually, prior to my diagnosis for HCV, when they actually came out for a test for it, I was tested for EBV as well as CMV.  Both of these titers were high.  However, I don't have and have never tested positive for HIV.  I have treated many times with HCV treatments, but I've never revisited the titers for Epstein-Barr or CMV.  I guess, I feel like looking at the whole picture that it's sort of a non-issue since I won't die from either EBV or CMV.  It may just make me feel more symptomatic w/the hep than another person, that's about all that I can see that it would cause me.  Who knows, maybe it is one of the factors as to why I have not yet cleared HCV?  Susan400

I've had some immune issues after TX, but not viral, like yours.  Bali's suggestion that EBV would be knocked out by interferon seems logical to me. Think you may have just had a stroke of bad luck and been infected again. You're young and had regained your strength from HCV treatment.  Give yourself time to get over this and keep involved in the arts as much as you are able.  Don't automatically assume that you won't have the required stamina if you take the time to get well now.  You went into the arts for a reason; don't write it off because of a temporary health setback.

i think we practically all have EBV it all depends on how well your immune system

handles it. was tested for because with hcv it can be an additional burden when it

flares up. was hoping tx would kill EBV. Maybe you got reinfected after tx  ?
